Our team is committed to providing dependable, professional moving services while maintaining clear communication and expectations throughout your move. To help ensure a smooth moving experience and avoid misunderstandings on moving day, please review the following policies carefully.


Local Moving Policies

Moving Charges

The total cost of your move is calculated using the hourly labor rate listed on your estimate multiplied by the total time required to complete the move, including travel time.

Labor Time Calculation

Billing begins once the moving crew arrives at the pickup location and ends after all work is completed at the final destination. Time is billed in 15-minute increments according to the hourly rate provided in your estimate. Travel time between locations is included as part of the total labor time.

Customer Presence Requirement

A customer or authorized representative must remain present throughout the move. It is the customer’s responsibility to complete a final walkthrough of both locations to confirm that all belongings have been properly loaded and delivered. Billing continues until all moving equipment has been returned to the truck and final payment has been completed.

Included Moving Materials

MT. Zion Moving & Storage provides an all-inclusive moving rate that includes standard protective moving materials required to complete your move at no additional cost. Included materials may consist of:

  • Furniture pad wrapping using moving blankets and tape
  • New mattress covers
  • TV boxes
  • Protection for mirrors, glass tops, shelves, glass doors, and large artwork
  • Complimentary wardrobe box usage on move day for hanging clothing only

Packing Supplies & Additional Materials

Our moving trucks carry a standard supply of boxes and packing materials, including:

  • 5 Small Boxes
  • 5 Medium Boxes
  • 5 Large Boxes
  • 5 Dish Pack Boxes
  • Packing Paper Bundles

If additional packing services are expected, customers should notify us in advance so sufficient supplies can be prepared. Additional boxes, packing materials, or supplies used for items not included in standard moving services may result in additional charges unless otherwise specified in the estimate.

Additional Moving Services

Additional services requested or required during the move may increase the final balance. These services may include, but are not limited to:

  • Piano Moving
  • Safe Moving
  • Hoisting
  • Specialty Packing
  • Custom Crating

Waiting Time

If the moving crew arrives at the scheduled time and the move cannot begin due to customer delays or lack of readiness, waiting time will be billed at the hourly rate listed on the estimate.


Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

Customers may receive a full refund of their deposit if cancellation occurs within 24 hours of booking the reservation. This policy may not apply to last-minute moves booked within 72 hours of the scheduled move date.

Cancellations made after the initial 24-hour booking period will result in forfeiture of the deposit.

Rescheduling requests must be confirmed with your sales representative no later than 2 business days before the scheduled move date. Please note that pricing and availability may change depending on scheduling availability.

A cancellation fee of $275.00 will apply to moves canceled less than 48 hours before the scheduled move date and time.

Same-day cancellations may result in charges equal to the full minimum cost of the scheduled move according to the signed agreement.


Promotional Offers & Discounts

Promotional offers, coupons, third-party vouchers, online deals, and discount codes must be submitted before booking your move. Promotional discounts cannot be applied on moving day unless previously approved by your sales representative.

Additional promotional terms include:

  • Promotional offers cannot be combined
  • Promotions cannot be applied toward minimum service charges
  • Third-party promotional refunds must be processed directly through the original seller or distributor
  • Purchasing a third-party promotional offer does not guarantee scheduling availability or fixed pricing

Rates remain subject to availability and scheduling conditions.


Disposal & Clean-Out Services

MT. Zion Moving & Storage offers disposal and clean-out services for unwanted items. All disposal requests must be approved in advance by our staff before service can be performed.

Disposal services are subject to additional charges unless otherwise noted on the estimate. Pricing is based on the amount of truck space occupied, measured at $1.75 per cubic foot, with the following minimum charges:

  • $15.00 per small item
    (chairs, boxes, small shelves, end tables, etc.)
  • $35.00 per medium item
    (tables, recliners, rockers, cribs, etc.)
  • $65.00 per large item
    (desks, dressers, bed frames, etc.)
  • $100.00 per oversized item
    (mattresses, armoires, loveseats, sofas, etc.)

MT. Zion Moving & Storage reserves the right to decline disposal requests at its discretion.


Damage Claims & Liability

Any damage claims must be submitted in writing to our claims department. Damage notations must also be documented on the Bill of Lading before the movers leave the delivery location.

Customers are responsible for completing a final inspection of all items and property before signing completion documents. The signed Bill of Lading confirms that services were completed and goods were delivered unless otherwise documented.

Claims cannot be processed until all moving charges have been paid in full. Customers may not withhold payment or deduct costs from the final balance due to alleged damages.


Specialty Item Policies

Refrigerators & Freezers

All refrigerators and freezers must be completely emptied before moving. MT. Zion Moving & Storage is not responsible for mechanical or operational issues unless direct physical damage occurs during the move.

Grandfather Clocks

Customers are responsible for preparing grandfather clocks before transport by removing pendulums, weights, chimes, and other moving parts. Clock mechanisms must be stopped by the owner prior to moving.

Our movers will protect the clock using moving blankets and double-wall cardboard crating materials. We do not restart, adjust, or recalibrate clock mechanisms after delivery.

Aquariums

Aquariums must be fully emptied before moving. No water, décor, equipment, or contents may remain inside the tank.

MT. Zion Moving & Storage does not disassemble, reinstall, or reconnect aquarium systems. Customers should consult an aquarium professional for preparation and setup assistance.

Piano Moving

All piano moving services must be reviewed and approved with our staff prior to move day to ensure proper planning and equipment preparation.


Payment Policy

Payment for local moving services is due in full upon completion of the move and before final delivery is completed.

Accepted payment methods for local moves include:

  • Cash
  • Credit Cards
  • Debit Cards

Payment arrangements must match the terms agreed upon before move day.


Moving Insurance & Valuation Coverage

All moving charges must be paid in full before a damage claim can be submitted or processed.

Customers are responsible for inspecting the moving truck after completion of the move to ensure no belongings remain behind.

Customer Valuation Coverage

Option A — Basic Coverage

As a licensed moving carrier, MT. Zion Moving & Storage provides complimentary limited liability coverage. Under this basic valuation option, carrier liability is limited to $0.60 per pound per item in the event of loss or damage.


Non-Allowable & Prohibited Items

For safety and legal reasons, the following items are not permitted on moving trucks:

  • Aerosol Cans
  • Alcohol
  • Ammonia
  • Ammunition
  • Car Batteries
  • Charcoal
  • Charged Scuba Tanks
  • Chemicals & Chemistry Sets
  • Cleaning Solvents
  • Fertilizer
  • Flammable Materials
  • Fire Extinguishers
  • Firearms
  • Paints & Paint Thinners
  • Pesticides
  • Poisons
  • Pool Chemicals
  • Propane Tanks
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Sterno Fuel
  • Locked Safes
  • Plants
  • Animals or Pets

Customers are also prohibited from riding inside moving trucks as passengers or cargo during transport.
